SUMMER VACATION 2009
Well, we just got back from our longest vacation ever!! We spent 2 1/2 weeks traveling all across the country. From our home in Corpus Christi, we drove to Olive Branch, MS (Memphis, TN area) where we spent 3 days with Dee Dee and Paw Paw (Scott's parents). While there, we went to the Children's Museum in Memphis, went to a waterpark and saw Catherine (Scott's sister), Nana and other family members. From there, we then drove up to Chicago to visit Grandma and Grandpa (my parents) for 6 days. My sister, Megan, and her husband, Wesley, and daughter, Sophia (10 mos), also came to visit from Nashville. On that Friday, my sister, Addie, Ayla and myself took the train into downtown Chicago. We took a water taxi over to Michigan Ave and went to the American Girl Place. What a sight to see! We spent a good hour and a half just walking around looking at all the neat things you can buy for your doll. I bought a Just Like You doll for each Addie and Ayla. They really do look like them! We then took a taxi back to train station and caught the train home. The guys spent the day at a Cubs baseball game. My mom stayed home and baby-sat the babies. The next day we drove 2 1/2 hours to Durant, Iowa where I was born. We got to see TONS of family that I have not seen in years. It was so much fun catching up with everyone! After our time in Chicago, we drove back down to Olive Branch and spent another 3 days with Dee Dee and Paw Paw. Their neighbor's grandchildren were in town visiting and Addie became such good friends with Alexa, who is one year older. Ayla and Alexa's brother, Brandon, also played well together. While we were there, Alexa turned 7, so they invited us to Chuck E Cheese's for lunch. After spending 3 days there, it was time to make the long trip back home. Boy, did we enjoy seeing and spending time with friends and family! The time went by so fast! We will always cherish these vacation memories!
